As Idaho’s sleep center, we play a crucial role in helping individuals address sleep disorders and improve their overall sleep quality. Our services include sleep studies and diagnostic testing, treatment options, education, training and support for patients suffering from various sleep-related issues such as obstructive sleep apnea, snoring, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome.

Welcome, Saltzer Sleep Health patients!

As you may have heard, recent decisions at Intermountain Health have led to an unforeseen separation from Saltzer Health. It was a financial decision that was made at the corporate level at Intermountain Health, completely out of the control of the local leadership and countless other healthcare providers who prioritize serving our communities.

We’re thrilled to announce plans to reestablish Saltzer Sleep with a new name, called Everything Sleep Idaho! You’ll still receive the same personalized and expert sleep medicine care you have come to expect, delivered by the entire team you know and trust! That’s right, all your favorite providers, staff, and sleep technicians will be together at the new clinic.

Our location will be at 7272 Potomac Drive, Boise, ID 83704. Many of you may already be receiving care at this location. We are in the process of establishing a clinic in Nampa, Idaho. Our plan is to start operations at the Boise clinic starting April 1st, 2024, following the closure of Saltzer Health on March 29th.

Our passion for improving sleep health in this community remains as strong as ever, and we look forward to continuing to partner with you on your journey to restful nights and vibrant days.

Our sleep center in Boise, Idaho provides a full range of state-of-the-art, patient-centered services for evaluation, diagnosis and management of all sleep disorders. Our sleep testing centers are complemented by a warm and inviting atmosphere conducive to a restful, pleasant experience for all patients.

DID YOU KNOW? … An estimated 50-150 million Americans suffer from some form of sleep disorder with fewer than 5% being diagnosed and treated. We diagnose and treat the following sleep disorders:

Treatments for Sleep Apnea & OSA

Treatment for sleep apnea typically depends on the severity of the condition and its underlying causes.

Treatments for OSA

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Therapy

CPAP is the most common and effective treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It involves wearing a mask over the nose or mouth during sleep, which delivers a continuous stream of air at a slightly increased pressure, keeping the airway open and preventing pauses in breathing.

Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) Therapy

Similar to CPAP, BiPAP delivers air at varying pressures, providing higher pressure during inhalation and lower pressure during exhalation. BiPAP may be recommended for individuals who find CPAP uncomfortable or have difficulty exhaling against the continuous pressure.

Adaptive Servo-Ventilation (ASV)

ASV devices adjust air pressure based on a person’s breathing patterns, providing support to maintain normal breathing throughout the night. ASV is often used for central sleep apnea (CSA) or complex sleep apnea syndrome (CompSAS).

Oral Appliance Therapy

Custom-fitted oral appliances, similar to mouthguards, are designed to reposition the jaw and tongue to keep the airway open during sleep. This treatment is typically recommended for mild to moderate OSA or for individuals who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy.

Lifestyle Changes

Weight loss, avoiding alcohol and sedatives before bedtime, sleeping on your side instead of your back, and quitting smoking can help reduce symptoms of sleep apnea, especially in cases where obesity or lifestyle factors contribute to the condition.

Surgery

In some cases, surgery may be recommended to remove excess tissue from the throat or to reposition the jaw to enlarge the airway. Surgical options include uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, or maxillomandibular advancement.

Sleep disorders are common but they are not always obvious.

Symptoms can be subtle.

Snoring

Chronic, loud snoring, or in combination with pauses in breathing, choking, or gasping sounds during sleep could be a symptom of OSA.

Daytime Sleepiness

Feeling excessively tired or fatigued during the day, regardless of how much sleep you get at night, can be a sign of a sleep disorder.

Mood Changes

Irritability, mood swings, depression, or anxiety can be linked to sleep disturbances or sleep disorders.

Morning Headaches

Waking up with headaches, especially if they occur frequently, can be a sign of sleep apnea or other sleep-related breathing disorders.

Restless Legs

Unpleasant sensations in the legs or an irresistible urge to move the legs, particularly at night, may be a sign of restless legs syndrome.

Gasping or Choking at Night

Waking up abruptly from sleep with a sensation of gasping, choking, or breathlessness can be indicative of sleep apnea.
